The cast and crew details of Megastar’s ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy‘ are now officially disclosed, and we can firmly say that no Indian film, not even Baahubali had such a stalwart cast. Can this ambitious Telugu film pull off a pan-India success like Baahubali?
The names of Megastar Chiranjeevi, Amitabh Bachchan, AR Rahman, Nayanthara and others demonstrate on what scale this historical film is being mounted. The budget is said to be in the range of 130 crore, but after looking at the cast and crew, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it shots up to 200 crore. Ram Charan, who is producing this magnum opus, seems to be determined to make Sye Raa a landmark film not just in his father’s career but also in Indian cinema history.
While the presence of Chiru, Nayanthara, Sudeep and Vijay Sethupathi guarantee grand openings across the Southern states, Sr Bachchan and Rahman’s names are expected to attract the attention of North audiences.
Rajamouli had rewritten the history of Bollywood with Baahubali, which didn’t had a single artist belonging to Hindi film industry. The scale and setting of Baahubali coupled with Rajamoui’s vision made Baahubali a blockbuster that no one had anticipated to arrive from Tollywood.
Sye Raa on the other hand has both the Bollywood star cast and a potential patriotic subject to become a pan-India film. Makers are not contended with Big B, and they are in discussions with a few more Hindi actors to enlarge the film’s reach. Rajamouli was invited to unveil the film’s motion poster with the precise intention of attracting attention of movie lovers across the nation. A handful of crores have reportedly been allotted to promote the film across the globe.
If Surender Reddy and his efficient team can manage to present the film in a visually appealing and emotionally engaging manner, then Sye Raa has all the requisite ingredients to become a global hit, and further strengthen the brand of Telugu cinema.
On the downside, making a film that strikes a chord with the sensibilities of North as well as South audiences is not as easy as assembling a stalwart cast and crew.
